The popularity of any product emanates from its simplicity, its usefulness, and the benefit it provides to users. The ever-increasing demand for home fragrance in this format can be attributed to the ambience, convenience, innovation, and benefits that a reed diffuser delivers.
The reed diffuser is a simple concept. It does not rely on precise heating and vaporising technology or ultra-sonic aerosolising technology. It merely relies on the natural evaporation of the fragrance oil, but it is a very effective diffuser.
How to Use Our Reed Diffusers
Using reed diffusers is a very easy and straightforward process. Simply remove the sealing lid from the bottle, position the display collar over the neck and then place the reeds/fibre stems into the bottle. You now have a decorative piece to position in any room of the house. Place all the reeds into the bottle and arrange like a bunch of flowers. Turn twice initially to saturate the reeds and then as desired for fragrance intensity. Capillary action then occurs as the fragrance oil travels up the reeds. Flip the reeds twice, initially to saturate, and then as desired for fragrance intensity. Fragrance evaporates into the air via the reeds. That’s it! You have set up your reed diffuser.
What is the diffuser made of?
The diffuser is a combination of 90% fragrance oil and 10% ethanol, derived naturally from the cassava plant, and is available in a wide selection of aromas, each to suit a different mood. This is why many claim aromatherapy benefits. Our diffusers contain absolutely no water and the minimum amount of alcohol to ensure the product’s long-lasting effectiveness. Our reed diffusers are also entirely free of artificial colouring, not tested on animals and vegan-friendly.
Modern chemistry allows for fragrances previously sourced form endangered plant and animal species to be synthesised to create precisely the same scent as occurs naturally while preserving the environment. Other aromas, such as fruits like apples and strawberries are not able to be extracted from their natural sources as a result is unstable. Synthetic fragrances help provide a breadth of reliance scents that is just not possible without them. The consumer often has the misleading notion that synthetic fragrance is inferior to natural fragrances. However, all fragrance ingredients, natural and synthetic, are subject to the same testing to ensure their quality, safety and suitability.
Some diffusers will smell stronger than others because each reed diffuser has a different blend of natural aroma essence extracts in the fragrance oil. As the concentration of each specific aroma extract varies in each reed diffuser, it will result in different product performances.
Why are the reed diffusers different colours?
The fragrance oils have essence extracts from natural botanicals, and this means that the liquids will have different colour hues from clear, pale green, lemon and orange to the warm browns of amber and vanilla. Over time, the aroma essence will darken with exposure to air. Heat and sunlight can also increase the speed at which this colour change will occur. Similarly, over time the reeds will also darken as the oil saturates the reeds, and evaporation occurs.
Helpful Tips to Have in Mind When Using Reed Diffusers
It's advisable to keep reed diffusers away from children’s and pet’s reach. While our oils are safe for use when used in accordance with the directions on the packaging and in the way in which the product was intended, there is always risk involved. So, make a point of keeping the diffuser away from pets and out of curious children's reach. It is also essential to take care when flipping the reeds. Make sure you do this over a sink or non-porous surface as spills or drips can cause harm. We suggest you also place your reed diffuser bottle on a coaster to further reduce any chance of oil spills damaging finished surfaces, furniture, or wooden floors.
To increase the aroma levels, flip the reeds regularly. This will increase the amount of fragrance exposed to the air, and, therefore, the amount of liquid that will be evaporated. We recommend flipping the reeds once a week. If you want a more intense aroma flip the reeds more frequently.
The number and length of reeds are proportional to the level of aroma. The more reeds in the diffuser, the more intense the aroma will be. In smaller rooms, like the bathroom, you can use fewer reeds, while in larger places like the living room, use all the reeds supplied when you purchased the product. Essentially, you can use the number of reeds in the diffuser to regulate the level of scent produced by the diffuser. Also the longer the reeds, the higher the surface area that the fragrance oil can cover. This will also increase the intensity of the aroma.
How long with the diffuser last?
Different air conditions can affect the rate at which the diffuser will evaporate. In hot, dry climates, the fragrance oil may evaporate more quickly than the environment which experiences high levels of humidity. The more frequent the reeds are turned, the higher the level of evaporation. A 200m diffuser should last up to 6 months.
Are Reed Diffusers Safe?
As a method of adding a beautiful fragrance, the reed diffuser is a very effective product, but of course, you need to take care.
A reed diffuser releases the natural essence-based fragrance without having to burn oils. Unlike oil burners which essential oils to be heated to infuse the scent in the room, reed diffusers do not need any heating or flame action at all.
Importantly, you should consider purchasing high-quality reed diffusers like ours which are blended with the highest possible percentage of natural essential oils to create our signature well rounded complex aromatic reed diffusers.
